Walker - 4 months!

Our sweet Walker is 4 months old! A few things to note from this month:

-He just started rolling over, and now that he knows how to do it he will flip himself over and prop up on his elbows every time I put him down on his back. It is the cutest thing!

-He is laughing a bit more; he's pretty ticklish on his neck, sides, and thighs so that usually gets him going.

-He's cooing a lot and likes it when we talk back to him.

-He's sleeping better. Most nights he sleeps til 5-6ish, usually with a wake-up in the middle of the night where we have to put his paci back in for him. Occasionally I'll feed him in the middle of the nights but those nights are becoming fewer and fewer (thank goodness!).

-He's not the cuddliest of babies when he's awake (he straightens himself out and refuses to be cuddled, but don't put him down or he'll start crying!), but I still manage to get him to fall asleep on me sometimes so I can get my cuddles in.

Outdoor Adventure

Brady, Walker and I went on a little adventure after school last week. Our church/Brady's school is located right beside the Edith Moore Nature Sanctuary, which is a really neat collection of trails and ponds and animals; an escape from the city... This is where Kerri does her photography when she's in Houston. We decided to go in and spend some time there one afternoon and Brady loved it. We saw turtles and birds and squirrels and even saw a snake ("Pee-Ew!", Brady said). Side note: When we were telling Blake about our day later Brady said "We saw a 'nake, and Mama don't like 'nakes." Ha!"

Brady's face in these next couple pictures is just the cutest...

Watching the turtles on the log...

Brady is very into 'best friends' these days. When we got home from our adventure there was a guy outside mowing our neighbor's yard and after we drove by him and got in our house Brady randomly said "Mommy that was my best friend" and I said "Who was?" and he said "THAT guy." Same thing happened at the park today... he ran around with this other little boy for about 30 seconds before he announced, "Mama that's my best friend!"

Nana and Grumps Visit

Just wanted to share some sweet pictures I got when Nana and Grumps were in town a couple weeks ago. We had so much fun with them! It was also nice to get to run some errands on my own and have a couple date nights with Blake!

I love these next ones of Nana and Walker!

I'm so lucky to be part of this sweet family!

Walker's 4 month checkup

Walker had his four month checkup today. He weighed 17 pounds, 10.5 ounces, which is almost two pounds more than Brady weighed at this age. He is such a little chunk! The doctor said he looks great. He's got a little bit of flatness at the back of his head but the doc said that is to be expected since babies sleep on their backs and that he isn't concerned at all; it should round itself out with time. Walker didn't cry at all with the first shot, but the second one just about took it out of him!! Poor little man.

Just for reference: HERE is Walker's two month checkup and HERE is Brady's four month checkup.

And a comparison of both boys at 4 months:

Brady funnies

Brady has started saying "That funny?" anytime he does something that gets him into trouble. For example, he pokes Walker in the eyeball and I say "No Brady, don't poke your brother", he will go "That funny?" and I'll say "No, that wasn't funny" and he'll go "Mama funny? Pillow funny? Baseball funny? Dinosaur funny?" until he finds something that makes me laugh.

Brady was wiping at something on his face and said "Mama, I got a little something on my face." I said, "Well what is it?" and he goes "A 'pider."

Every morning, Brady comes in our room and says "Walker awake?" and pokes at him until he opens his eyes. He then comes running over to me and says "Mama! Walker wake up! Look, his eyes open! Look at my little brudder!"

I found the boys like this when I walked into the living room yesterday. As my cousin Tory puts it, "Brother Smother".

He asked me to build a baby giraffe, a mama giraffe, and a daddy giraffe when we were playing legos the other day. He lined them up against the ottoman and said they were eating their dinner...

...then he stacked them all into the box and said "Look Mama, they so haaaappy!" That's what I'm talking about! I want all my people close to me all the time; that's what makes me happy!

A little Academy trip last week...

And a couple random pictures...

Bike ride with 'Uncle Eevi'.

Sunday afternoon nap time. Sweetest.

Sweet boys...

Just wanted to share these pictures of the boys and me from the other day... a lot of times when I'm cuddled up with either or both of my boys I imagine that I'm 20 years older looking back on these precious years and I can feel myself longing for them. Sometimes I feel like thinking that can make these moments last even a second longer or make me enjoy them just a little bit more... this chapter of my life is so, so special and I treasure it so much.
Cannot get close enough to him!

Sleeping angel.

Miracle of all miracles - both boys fell asleep on me earlier this week. You know I was in heaven! Brady wasn't feeling well so he crawled up with Walker and me and fell asleep. It was the sweetest hour of my life!
