Walker's 1st Birthday Celebrations and First Steps!

I will start with the birthday celebration we had at home, even though it was the last celebration of the bunch. I was really excited about making a cake for Walker's birthday, and Brady helped me come up with the perfect idea - a deer cake! It fits Walker so well.

I will also note that Walker took his first steps this night after eating his cake! He took three steps from Blake to Courtnie. He's done it a couple times since then. Cutest little baby steps!!

This wasn't really a party by any means, but we did have a few of our friends over to sing Happy Birthday and eat some cake. Walker enjoyed it.

Here's the group of kids: Brady, Carson and Madeline (neighbors), Walker, Drew and Jake.

Our first birthday celebration was the night before we went to Denison. We took the boys to Escalante's for Walker's birthday dinner. The waiter brought a big sombrero for Walker to wear and sang a quite Happy Birthday (usually all the waiters sing but they do it so loudly and the waiter thought it'd probably be better for him to sing solo so that Walker didn't get scared!).

This is the worst picture ever but I had to include it because it shows just what Walker did to his tortilla-strip candle - put it out with his fingers. Yup. HOT!

After dinner we came home and gave Walker his gift - a chair to match his brother's! When we put Walker to bed that night I kept telling Brady, 'Walker is going to wake up tomorrow and be a big boy! He'll be one year old!' and all night/the next day Brady kept saying "Mom what time is Walker gonna be a big boy?"

Our second birthday celebration was in Milam. Dex's birthday is the 27th, so Kerri and I did a little cookie cake for them so that we could sing Happy Birthday to both of them.

We couldn't get a good picture of the two birthday boys - Walker was not having it.

And finally, on Walker's actual birthday, we celebrated in Denison with dinner at City Limits and cake back at Nana and Grumps' house.

Playing with some birthday gifts:
